Reliable as always

I grabbed a Weekend Ticket for my trip to Bruges last month. It was just as smooth as my previous trips. The 50% off for weekend travel is a lifesaver. My e-ticket came through instantly after purchase, which is always nice when you're planning last minute. They're consistently good, which is why I keep coming back for my train travel in Belgium.

So easy to use!

Oh my goodness, I just bought a Standard Ticket for a quick trip to Antwerp and it was so easy! The website was super clear and I found the train times I needed in a snap. The whole booking process took like two minutes! My e-ticket was in my inbox before I even closed the tab. I'm definitely going to use SNCB again for all my Belgian adventures. Seriously, everyone should check them out!

Decent service, easy booking

Needed to get from Brussels to Luxembourg so I used SNCB for an ICE Connection ticket. Booking it online was pretty simple, no real fuss. The ticket arrived quickly in my email, which is what you want. The train was on time, and the journey was fine. Nothing spectacular, but everything went smoothly as expected. It's a solid choice for getting around, I'd say.

Good deal on a Youth Ticket

I was looking for the cheapest way to get from Brussels to Ghent and found their Youth Ticket. It was definitely the best value compared to other options. The process online was straightforward, and I got my ticket delivered to my email right away. For the price I paid, it felt totally worth it. I'll keep them in mind for future trips if I'm trying to save some money.

Is the Brussels airport supplement included in my ticket if I buy a regular Standard Ticket to Brussels-Airport?

L LenaW 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
No, usually not automatically. You have to explicitly select 'Brussels Airport - Zaventem' as your destination, and the supplement gets added to the price. If you just buy to Brussels Central, you'll need the supplement separately.

C ChrisH 1 month ago
Oh, that's what I thought. Thanks for clarifying!

It's called the Diabolo fee. Super annoying.
8
S SophieP 1 month ago
I made that mistake once and had to buy the Airport Supplement at the machine. It's an extra step you don't want when rushing for a flight.
8
C ChrisH 1 month ago
That's exactly what I wanted to avoid. Thanks for the heads up!

My TGV INOUI Connection ticket got delayed by over an hour yesterday. How do I even request a refund for a delayed SNCB train? It was a mess.

M MarcR 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Oh, that's annoying. You usually have to fill out a form on the SNCB website under 'Delay Compensation'. Keep your ticket handy, they'll ask for the reference.
15
M MarcR 1 month ago
It depends on the length of the delay. Over 60 mins is usually 50%, over 120 mins is 100%.
3
S SophieD 1 month ago
Is it a full refund or just a percentage based on delay?
4
L LauraM 1 month ago
I had a similar issue with an Eurostar Connection. Customer service was helpful over the phone, they guided me through the process.
9
S SophieD 1 month ago
Good to know. I'll try calling them if the form is confusing.

Just renewed my Unlimited Subscription and the price jumped quite a bit. Anyone else notice this for their SNCB subscription?

P PieterJ 2 months ago
Following. I'm due to renew my Halftime Subscription next month and now I'm worried.
7
A AnoukV 2 months ago
Maybe check if there's a new promo for it before renewing?
8
T ThomasB 2 months ago
Yeah, mine went up too. I had the Unlimited for Brussels and thought it was just me. They didn't really explain it clearly when I called.
12
S SofiaG 2 months ago
Did you ask about the Student Subscription? Wondering if that's still a good deal.
5
T ThomasB 2 months ago
Mine was for the Network Subscription, so not just Brussels.
1
D Dirk91 2 months ago
Could it be related to inflation or something? Everything's getting more expensive.
2
M MarieL 2 months ago
Possibly, but a heads up would've been nice.

Weekend trip to Bruges, what's the best ticket?

Weekend Ticket, hands down. It's 50% off.

If you're under 26, the Youth Ticket might be cheaper than the Weekend Ticket. Check both.

Standard Ticket is fine if you're only going one way or something, but Weekend Ticket is usually better for return trips on Saturday/Sunday.

Finally switched from my old paper multi-card to the digital Local Multi on the app. So much easier!

D DieterS 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
The app is great for digital tickets. I use it for my Brupass XL and never had an issue with controls.

D DieterS 1 month ago
Yeah, controllers just scan the QR code.

Nice! I'm still on a paper Standard Multi, thinking of doing the same. How easy was it to transfer?
9
N NathalieB 1 month ago
Super easy. Just bought a new one directly in the app. No transfer needed, just started fresh.

SNCB student discount, how does it work?

R RahulVerma 2 months ago ✓ Best Answer
They have a Student Subscription or the Youth Multi if you're under 26 and travel a lot. Depends on how often you're commuting.
14
A AnanyaSharma 2 months ago
Is the Youth Multi worth it for like once a week travel?
8
P PriyaSingh 2 months ago
For once a week, maybe just Youth Ticket. Multi is for more frequent.

V VikramKumar 2 months ago
Check their website for the Student Subscription, it's pretty good if you're going to the same place for uni.

Trying to book a ticket to Germany from Brussels, do I just buy it on the SNCB site or should I check the ICE site directly?

N Neil Doyle 3 months ago
SNCB should cover it, they have connections for ICE trains. I think I bought my Amsterdam ticket through them once.
1
M Megan Kaur 3 months ago
Yeah, you can buy it on SNCB. They're connected to those international lines. Might be good to cross-check prices with Deutsche Bahn or the ICE site too, just in case, but usually SNCB is fine.

Thinking of getting a Rail Pass for my trip next month. Is it worth it compared to buying individual Standard Tickets?

J JanK 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Definitely depends on how many trips you're planning. If it's more than 5-6 longer journeys, Rail Pass is usually better. Otherwise, Standard Ticket might be fine.
20
S SvenN 1 month ago
Also consider if you'll be traveling during peak or off-peak times. Weekend Ticket could save you money if you only travel on weekends.

E EliseV 1 month ago
Good point. I'm thinking 8-10 trips.

I used a Rail Pass last year and it was super convenient, no need to buy a ticket every time. Just validate it. Saves a lot of hassle.

Yeah, especially if you're making last-minute decisions.
